Flamenco and Me

It all started with the stamping noise at the dance studio at a shopping mall where I frequently visited.

At that time I wonder what it was all about. After receiving 10 years  of formal training in Ballet and Jazz dance and I recognized that dance is to be light and always be graceful.

What can you produce with stamping your feet so hard? It has to be a very angry dance!

And I am half correct...

I was not too inspired but I signed up for a trial class anyway.

And that's how I got myself started with Flamenco. When I first watched a dance video "Carmen", I was deeply impressed.

The strong expression and feelings. Anger, distress, death which are common themes of Flamenco, find their way to express on stage with such intensity.

I then began my research of Flamenco, I bought books, looked up on Internet info and waited every opportunity of Flamenco dance troops performing in Singapore.

I am glad that is is gaining popularity in Asia, more and more people begin to appreciate Flamenco.
